LAKMI SARONG
Our sarong is much more than a simple accessory, it's a truly wearable work of art that transports you to a mystical elsewhere.
Illustration Story
Imagine a hillside abundant in fruit and ancestral trees, wooded and lush. Now imagine this young woman Lakmi, from the Dongria tribe. There is wildlife, honey farming and orchids. The tribe takes its name from dongar, which means ‘hill’, and the name they give themselves is Jharnia: protector of the rivers.
A note from the artist
As an artist, I was inspired by the poetry of this encounter between nature and humanity. I wanted to capture the bewitching beauty of the hill, the richness of Dongria culture and the grace of Lakmi in this print. Each brushstroke was a way of conveying the admiration I feel for nature and the diversity of cultures that populate our world. It was also a way of paying tribute to the Dongria tribe, sharing their history and their close bond with their environment.
By wearing this sarong, you become enveloped in this story, an integral part of this captivating landscape and vibrant culture. Let yourself be transported by the emotions this print awakens in you, let your mind wander over the green hills and feel the connection with nature and the ancestral wisdom of the Dongria.
