WAWAWA SARONG WHITE
Our sarong is much more than a simple accessory, it's a truly wearable work of art that transports you to a mystical elsewhere.
Illustration Story
In Papua, the sumptuous shade of green is surprising and unforgettable. The high jungle provides a variety of palm trees used by the Papua people to make their bows or for their food. There are all kinds of animals like the cassowary, the bird of paradise, snakes. In this illustration, a highlander warrior in Mount Hagen during Sing Sing Ceremony has decorated his head with cassowary bones and bird of paradise feathers. You can still hear him saying these syllables: Wa Wa Wa, which means «Welcome to you.»
A note from the artist
Creating this illustration allowed me to live once again my last trip to this faraway land, to feel the deep connection between man and nature, between age-old traditions and the vital energy that emanates from the jungle and the mountains. With every pencil stroke, I sought to express my admiration for the ability of indigenous peoples to live in harmony with their environment, drawing resources and inspiration from it.
When you wear this sarong, I invite you to join me in silent contemplation of the beauty of nature and the wisdom of ancestral cultures. May you feel connected to the spirit of Papua, to the life that hums in its mysterious mountains, and to the human heritage that flourishes in its infinite shades of green.
