Making of WaWaWa Illustration
The splendor of Papua deeply inspired me to create WaWaWa print. During my journey in this region, I was captivated by the lush palette of greens that overwhelms the senses and transports you to another world. The jungle, with its majestic vegetation, is the cradle of incredible biodiversity, where every plant and animal seems to have its sacred role.
This print is a tribute to this abundance of life. You will find sumptuous shades of green, evoking the depth and diversity of the Papuan jungle. The palm trees, which are an essential part of the Papuan way of life, are represented, reminding us of their skillful use in crafting bows and as a source of sustenance.
But what struck me the most were the encounters with the locals, especially a Papuan man whose headdress made of cassowary bone and bird of paradise feathers was both impressive and moving. Their customs and hospitality deeply touched me.
In creating this print, I wanted to capture the very essence of this experience. The magnificence of nature, the cultural richness, and the human warmth I felt are all present in these patterns.
Through this art, I aim to take you on a journey, as if you were standing at the heart of Papua, listening to the whispers of the jungle and the song of the Papuan warmly welcoming you. It's an invitation to marvel, to reflect on our connection to nature and to other cultures, and to celebrate the diversity that makes our world so extraordinary.
Enjoy every shade of green, every detail of this jungle, and let yourself be carried away by this unique visual and emotional experience.
With love,
Brescia
